German English. Guided canoe trips and tours in Alberta, Canada Our guided multi day canoe trips on the Athabasca River in Alberta, Canada, are fully outfitted wilderness camping tours with transport to and from Edmonton. With paddle training on a lake as part of the preparation, this canoe tour is suitable for beginners.

Natives taught the early traders and trappers in Canada the use of the canoe. For the fur traders the rivers and lakes were the only east-west roads through the northern forests. During our canoe trip on the Athabasca River you follow their routes while we worry about the logistics. We supply all necessary equipment and meals, our leaders are expert guides who know the river, its history and importance in earlier and modern times and the wildlife you might see.

We pitch our tents on islands in the Athabasca River or wherever we find a good spot along the shores. Camping in the Canadian wilderness does not have to be uncomfortable, your guide knows how to set up camp without inviting curious animals. It is an exhilarating feeling when you realize that you and your few friends are probably the only humans for miles around.

The canoes can safely transport pounds down the river, that means two persons with their equipment like tents and personal gear plus part of the group equipment. Several hours of canoe training and practice are part of the program. We can also drop you off on a remote island in the Athabsca River in northern Alberta and leave you camping alone for a few days in the wilderness with nothing but the river and forests for miles around.

A week of spectacular day hikes is followed by a glorious wilderness canoe trip down an untamed river. Tour Details. What People are Saying.
